How Respect is Key in the Interview Process Part II

respect

On our website, you can find that TYGES is guided by 5 core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Determination, and Courage.

Over the next few weeks, I will be looking at each value and its importance. Last month, I touched on how respect is relevant for candidates. This month I am focusing on how respect plays into the lives of recruiters here at TYGES.

I included this quote in my last article, but it has made such an impact on my perspective that it’s worth repeating. When explaining the core values of his company, Tim Saumier, TYGES’ president and founder, explains respect like this: “I talk with everyone the same way. It doesn’t matter if they are the janitor or the president. At the end of the day, we all put our pants on the same way.”

I can tell you that all the recruiters here at TYGES operate with that same perspective in mind. So, when working with a member of our team there are certain traits you can expect.

We treat every candidate the same

You can expect each member of our team to treat you with the same respect as we would treat anyone else, regardless of your background or role in a company. It does not matter if you are in a management position or an entry-level one; it does not matter if you are a booming company or one that is just budding. We will treat you the same.

We do what we say we are going to do

It is personally one of my biggest pet peeves when people do not follow through on their commitments. And if I expect that from other people, I will surely expect that of myself. Here at TYGES, we understand that respect is not a one-way street. We hold this standard for not only ourselves but our customers as well. We expect you to follow through with your commitments like sending your updated resume or picking up the phone for a scheduled call. And in the same way, you can expect your recruiters here at TYGES to deliver on our commitments as well.

We are honest

With respect comes honesty. TYGES’ recruiting process is special in that we believe in right people, right seat. We give much thought to how the role fits the candidate’s background and career goals. We understand that each person has a unique set of skills and interests that should be considered carefully. Respect extends to our interactions with hiring authorities as well, as we respect the trust that companies place in us to find the best talent for their organization. That means we will carefully vet each candidate to make sure a fit is there.

With that, sometimes the candidate and the role are not a fit for each other. In that case, we have enough respect for the candidate and the hiring authority to end the process if a fit is not there.

From the beginning to the end of the process with TYGES, candidates and hiring authorities can expect us to treat them the same as we treat others no matter their status; we will follow through on all of our commitments, and we will carefully consider what is in the best interest of both the candidate and the hiring authority to honor the trust and time invested by both parties.

At the end of the day, respect, like the other core values, ultimately points toward TYGES’ mission: we are here to make good things happen for other people.
