Everyone Deserves to be Happy at Work!

If you’ve had a conversation with me, you know that this is my motto. Being happy at work is not only possible, it’s imperative in a world where the ground seems to be shifting in every area of our life by the minute. Being happy at work is a bit intangible. It goes beyond a simple job description into the way you feel when you’re at work. In my experience, if you’re aligned with the vision and values of your company it’s much easier to show up happy at work.

For me, those values include treating people individually, understanding that there is more to them than a one-dimensional skill. It also includes the ability to keep my eye on the bottom line while managing my time in the way that makes the most sense for me and my family. In essence, I like being treated like a grown-up who knows how to get her work done.

When we’re happy at work we are productive at home. We are better parents, friends, sons/daughters and community members. We have more energy to share and more to contribute because we feel valued and valuable in the place we spend our days.

For someone with a motto like this, it makes sense that recruiting top talent is my job of choice. My calling goes deeper of course. I truly believe I am here to help people find more ease and joy in their lives. The way that comes through is by matching people who are looking for work with companies who are looking to hire top talent. Working to get under the surface and find out what really makes a great match is more than just aligning bullet points on a job description and a resume. It means understanding what a company stands for and what the true non-negotiables are for candidates. Frankly, some days it’s like working a 2000-piece puzzle of nothing but the same color. And that’s okay because when the match is made it’s a time for celebration.

So, what are your core values and how do you want to see them in your workplace?

At TYGES our mission revolves around making good things happen for other people. Each of us knows that when we focus OUTSIDE ourselves to make other lives better the rewards are exponential. Of course, we make money. This is a business. That doesn’t mean we can’t make money while helping others and that’s one of the things that makes TYGES special.

This year TYGES has rolled out just one more way for us to make good things happen for others and I couldn’t be more excited if I tried. In fact, I nearly cried when the announcement was made the other day.

Here’s the deal:

Every TYGES employee who has a tenure of one year or longer can identify the non-profit of their choice to receive a donation of $1000.00 or break it up into two donations of $500.00. Every. Dang. Year.

Are there rules for this? Sort of.

We’re encouraged to choose organizations that are directly impacted by a donation of this amount – an organization within our own communities that we are personally involved in and that contributes to doing good things for other people.

This donation isn’t tied to our productivity as employees, nor is it tied to a match (although those of us who have been personally contributing to our organizations have likely contributed too). This is simply a way for TYGES to keep our focus on our mission and help others.

With employees working in 6 separate communities across the US, this is a huge way for TYGES to make an impact and help others.

It’s easy to see why I’m happy at work. Working at TYGES ticks off the boxes that ensure my happiness at work:

  • Focus on assisting others to reach their highest and best in work and in life.
  • Flexibility to get my job done while working with others who are the best in the business.
  • Daily focus on building relationships with clients and candidates, investing time in learning what’s important below the job description or bullet points on a resume.
  • Helping people find jobs and roles that support them financially and personally.
  • The clarity that my volunteer time is as valuable as my work time.
  • Colleagues that absolutely walk the talk of making the world better one person at a time every day.

Are you unhappy at work? I invite you to reach out to our team. We’d love to help you.
